Wednesday 3rd August: Nature Art Play Day with Nature Makers

11am-12 | 12:30-1:30pm | 2-3pm (Session repeated, please arrive early to secure a place)

Age: 3-10yrs

Make, create, explore and play outdoors with Nature Makers.

Nature Makers run eco-friendly, mindful outdoor art and craft for children in the local area, and believe creativity and embracing nature are so important for early years development and life-long wellbeing. Show us your muscles and join our parachute games, then have a little rest with our family storytime.

3rd-5th August: Fusion Fashion Camp with Complex Simplicity

Thursday 4th August: Colour Box with Flatpack (Great Hall)

11am-12 | 12:30-1:30pm | 2-3pm Please arrive early to secure a place

Age: 3-10yrs

Come and join us for a day of short films and hands-on practical workshops, exploring all the ways in which we play. Expect some silly animated films with a playful sense of humour, and opportunities to make the kookiest outfits using a whole range of materials and bits and bobs - once suitably attired, strike a pose for the photoshoot. Friday 5th August: Inclusive Play The Glue Collective 

11am-3pm 

Drop in | Age: 0-25yrs 

You are invited to join Glue for an art and play set in the grounds of Bromwich Hall. More than a park, it is a SPARK! A place where creativity, imagination and play can flourish. 

Children and adults of all ages and abilities can create, play and enjoy art. SPARK is populated with a range of ‘loose arts’ and tactile artwork made by the collective. ‘Loose arts’ are designed from a range of natural and up-cycled materials that offer an invitation to be moved around, combined, stacked, dismantled and put back together in multiple ways, they come with no instructions creating a sense of wonder and encouraging imagination.

As a collective of artists we value the quality of the play and creative process over the product and the installation changes in shape, colour and form depending on the contribution from participants on the day. This session welcomes children with additional needs and is specifically designed for children with SEND. Come and join the friends of Bromwich Hall for a day of games and play and our FLOW Maker space will be open for making, crafting and creating your own original games and playthings.

Monday 8th August - Nature Play with Ampersand Projects  

11am-12 | 12:30-1:30pm | 2-3pm (Session repeated, please arrive early to secure a place) | 3 years+ 

Come play, build and create in nature at this Forest School inspired session. Children of all ages are invited to hunt for minibeasts, squish mud, build dens and create pictures using natural paints and brushes. 
The session is outdoors and you are advised to wear seasonally appropriate clothing and closed shoes where possible, children may get wet and muddy whatever the weather! Jump on the Sandwell Library Bus for Play, Talk, Read. Join us and everyone’s favourite hungry caterpillar. Stories, crafts and code-a-pillar fun.

Tuesday 9th August - Play with Clay 

11am-12 | 12:30-1:30pm | 2-3pm (Session repeated, please arrive early to secure a place)| 3 years+ 

Come and get your hands dirty, and to do something different as well as learning about clay. To squish it and bash it, roll it, flatten it, clay is one of Earth's more abundant materials and it's a brilliant and fun way to get to be creative and make things in 3D form.

Join us for an interactive storytelling adventure, children will get messy and have fun, exploring a range of story-themed messy and sensory play activities to really bring books to life.  At The Playcycle we are passionate about 'sensory play' because we have seen first-hand the joy it brings to families and the proven benefits it has on child development.

Saturday 13th August: WMVS Children in Care Artslink – Arts Festival

11am-3pm

Young people from Birmingham and Virtual Schools have been led by the expertise of architectural practice Matt + Fiona and local designer-maker Lisa Lucy Gakunga to design our creative studio and gallery as part of FLOW Children's Biennial for Birmingham 2022 Festival.

This is your opportunity to come and visit our arts centre shipping container at Bromwich Hall Museum and hear from the children who designed it and see the space in action. There will be a mix of have-a-go workshops, pop up performances, live music and refreshments.

Drop in - things for all ages 

A makerspace is a “curiosity space” for kids to build, explore, and invent with a variety of tools and supplies. Our special Medieval Maker Space will explore the weird and wonderful 750 year history of Bromwich Hall Museum, and inspire children to invent, build and make their own medieval inventions, solving the problems of the time, like how do you make hedgehog pie?
